C-series(not C20) car enddoors.

Inlägg av Busterminal »

What is the meaning of the enddoors in subwaycars series C1-C19? I have never seen that anyone has used those doors. Except the motorman in the movie Martin Beck: Spår i mörker.

Do they use the doors? And the C6 -> series where the drivingdesk is in the middle of cockpit and blocking that door? How in that series you can use the enddoor?

And other, when the motorman comes stand the platform and look that everybody get's in and out safely from train. What sentences do they use?
I think that the most famous is "Dörrärna stängs"?

My opinion is that swedish way is the better and more safe way that finnish way in Helsinki. In here the driver look at in mirrors and do not say anything in loudspeekers. Only "Ding" tells that the doors are closing.

Hi,

Just a small detail: There has never been any C17-C19 cars while C10, C11 and C16 are only used on Saltjöbanan. In the underground, the only ones that are still in use are C6, C9, C14, C15.

The end doors are only used for non-urgent evacuation purposes, for instance when a train gets stuck on the track an when its unsuitalbe to evacuate the passangers through the side doors, for instance when the train stops on a bridge. But using the end doors is very rare. They are locked and can not be opened if you do not have the appropriate key/tool.

The driving desk is located in the middle on all CX-cars still in use, not only on C6. In the past, it was only C1-C5 that had the driving desk to the left. On some of the remaining CX-cars, the driving desk is attached to the door which means that when you open the door the driving desk goes with it to the side. On others, for instance C6, the driving desk can be loosened and moved to the side which allowes the door to be opened.

It is also possible to evacuate the C20 cars through the ends by removing the front window.

According to the rules, the driver should annouce something telling that the doors are about to close on trains that do not have some kind of beep or other warning sound when the doors are closing, but most drivers do not care about this unless they are on a very crowded station. A few classical sentences:

"Tag plats"
"Se upp för dörrarna"
"Dörrarna stängs"

Often you use all three together

The end doors are used while moving the cars in depots also.

What kind of key is used on subway-car doors? Can somebody take photo from that key, so I see what kind it is?

Bild

Bild

Is these locks different or similar? That what is above is from Saltsjöbanan ja below is from C2-car in the trammuseum.

How the handle/lock-combination works? What direction you turn the handle when you want to open the door? And are there any differencies in end- and sidedoors, that how the doors, locks and handles work?

Is there any place that man can buy that kind of key somewhere?

What kind signals in Stockholm subway have? Like main- and fore/distantsignals?

Here is picture from finnish railway- or rail enthusiast most important object. So called "triagle-key". Used by VR(Finska Statens järnvägar) and some part HKL(Helsinki Subway and tram). When I was in Stockholm last summer, I try that to C2-car but it was just(1-2mm) too small to the keyhole. :(

Of course you cannot buy those keys, in Swedish "Någon ordning får det väl ändå vara". Please don´t ask questions like that here because it makes people suspicious. :?

In Sweden, no railway enthusiast should try to unlock those doors and I really hope you do not do similar things, here or somewhere else. To maintain the goodwill of the railway entuthiast movement, no such obstructions should be tolerated. The climate between railway staff and enthusiasts in Sweden is very good, but doing such things can easily make it bad.

And now for your other question. I hope you enjoy these pictures, but please remember I have the ©.
Busterminal skrev:What kind signals in Stockholm subway have? Like main- and fore/distantsignals?
First, you should know that there are two partly different signalling principles in the Stockholm Underground. At the Green line (Gröna linjen) the signalling system is made for double-direction service on both tracks, while the Red and Blue lines are made for left-hand running only. For this reason, both the main signals and the cab signals differ a bit between the two systems.

However, there are only main signals in the Stockholm underground, but they look different at different locations. In tunnels and on the wrong track, they are usually smaller while outdoor signals usually look like any railway signal.

Five different aspects can be shown:

Bild
One green light: "Kör" (Proceed)

Bild
One, two or three green lights: "Kör" (The number of green lights shows which route the train will run behind the signal.)

Bild
Red light: "Stopp"

Bild
Red over yellow: "Stopp, därefter kör varsamt" (Stop and proceed at caution). The driver should expect a train or some other obstruction beyond the signal.

The main signals do not tell any speed limits, those are maintained by the cab signalling system "HS". For this reason, no preparating signal aspects are needed (although it might make the journey a lot more comfortable!). Furthermore, a train without HS may run at maximally 30 km/h (at some conditions 40 km/h).

Bild
Here there is no main signal between the two trains. If there had been one, it might have shown a green aspect. Instead, the speed of the second train is automatically reduced by the cab signalling system, so that it should not rear-end the first.

Bild
As you can se, the speedometer has two pointers. The speed limit here is 70 km/h - if the driver should attempt to overspeed, the service brake is fully applied until the speed is below 70. In case of any service brake failure, the emergency brake will bring the train to a complete stop before it can proceed. There are two different kinds of cab signals (this one is used at the Green lines). A lot could be told about the cab signalling but that´s not the issue here.

Bild
Even this is a main signal, although a small one. It shows the end ("slutpunkt") of a train route, e.g. when driving on the wrong track.

Bild
When arriving to a diverging switchpoint from the wrong track (at the red and blue lines), the signal can also show the "stop and proceed" aspect when running onto the "right" track (which is, of course, the track to the left!) :D

Yes, ofcourse I understand that and it's in Finland same as you have in swedish. The reason why I asked those questions is that I'm planned to build C2-cockpit-mockup to myself and models of Stockholm tunnelbana-cars. That's why i ask those questions so i know how the things work. That's difficult to do model, if you don't know how things work.

In Finland also no man except those who work at railways, subway etc. cannot have that "triangle-key". And I'm working in Ilmala Railway Depot in Helsinki so I have that key.

If that is obscure to someone, I'm building on a model from C2-subwaycar scale 1:10 and I want it to be an very detailed model. If you can not tell those things here, is there any place that where I can ask from it?

And I'm sorry if I insult when I asked this kind of matter.

Is there anywhere in internet some fleetlists from tunnelbanas cars? That which are in service as we speak? And what cars are to be scrapped in the future and when? Are those all tradional types in blue livery? There aren't any green cars anymore?

Svenska Lok och Motorvagnar has fleetlists for the Tunnelbana, Saltjöbanan, Roslagsbanan and the Swedish main lines. The last edition was from 2003, so a new version should be availalble towards the end of the year. The only online list I've ever seen can be found here, and may not be up-to-date.

All the Cx cars in passenger service are now in blue. The only green cars left are the museum train (C2 and C3) and a handful of C13s (four, I think) used by SL Infrateknik for works purposes

I´m doing to my model on a destinations rollsign. You have in Stockholm three systems and do you have different rollsigns or roll lines in the cars. Or is the cars exact similar in that way for every system(green, blue and red)? Do you know what variations do those rollsigns had? What stations and other texts would be every systems cars? Are I right if I say that every system had/has own cars and like ex. green systems cars never drive in the blue system?

At least for a while, when I was working on the tunnelbana, it was quite common for cars to be exchanged between the divisions. I was both a train operator and a signal operator (the latter only in Västra skogen), and many times I had to handle stock moves over the connecting track between Tub1 and Tub3.

I don't know how common this is now, though. Anyone?

Best,
Tim
