I'm sorry if I disturb your forum, but I can't find any other place, where I can find information about Oslo buses.
I'm from Słupsk in Poland, and I be interesed in transport as you. In my town, from april 2002 we have three buses from Oslo (MAN NG 272), and from 1993 five buses from Helsinki (Scania 112 Vimma). I can't find information about their past life (could you show me some side in internet?). If some of Us help me, i will be very happy. Please reply on forum or on my mail: dalnlod@poczta.onet.pl

On this side you can show photos with Man and Scania in Słupsk (north Poland), and more other photos (some with trams - shut down in 1959 , and troleybuses - shut down in 1999)

Well, the only remark I have - and I'm not sure if it's a correct one - is that those Scania/Wiima buses looks as if they're from Jönköping, Sweden, rather than Helsinki, Finland.

But as noted, I could be wrong!

So this is where they ended up, in Slupsk, Poland. I didn't know that.

The bus division of AS Oslo Sporveier is now a more or less independant company. Their web-site is http://www.sporveisbussene.no/ but you will be disappointed to learn that they are eager to tell you everything about a few tourist coaches and nothing about the fleet of city buses. I don't know about any other web-site covering Oslo buses, but this is what I know about your question:

AS Oslo Sporveier took delivery of six buses of this type in January-February 1992, numbered 905-910 (registration plates DF 90758 to DF 90763). Another eight followed between December 1992 and February 1993, numbered 911-918 (DH 12324 to DH 12331).

The buses soon proved to be very unpopular with the drivers and spent much time in the workshop. Their nickname was "Hitler's revenge". One of the obstacles was that the buses were too underpowered for the steep and long hills in Oslo. Another problem was the discovery of cracks in the body frame around the articulation. And a problem noticeable by the drivers and the passengers was that the door control system was unreliable. Buses that couldn't release the brakes after closing the doors were a common sight. It also occured that the brakes were blocked at full speed. The underpowered motors could however partially be blaimed on the purchaser which had specified a certain emission rate.

Oslo Sporveier threatened to break the contract with MAN, but they finally came to an agreement in 1998. All the problems could have been solved on these very buses except for the underpowered motors, so the solution was that the manufacturer accepted them to be returned while Oslo Sporveier ordered a batch of 15 new NG 272 buses.

Slupsk apparently bought three of the secondhand buses. I don't know what became of the rest. Nevertheless, I hope that MAN managed to solve the problems and that the buses now work satisfactorily.

Best regards,
Roy Budmiger
Oslo

Thank you very much!
In Slupsk we have a lot of problems with MANs. A specialy with ECAS system, and with engines. Perhabs; all windows are not opening, and when the temperature cross 20, inside is so hot (in Poland is hotest than in Sweden)!
Our mechanics don't like Man too. We (hobbist) call they "coffins".

If you want, i can send you more photos of NG272 in Slupsk, but please write your e-mail!

Thank you once again!

5 Scania 112 Vimma comes from Helsinki Lento. I'm sure.
(Sorry, my English isn't very good)

This bus, Scania Wiima, is from Jönköping. Ex Jönköpings Kommuntrafik (JKT), is no doubt about that. Can not be Hesinki.

Is that your homepage?

My homepage is http://www.bussfoto.com

Yes, it's my side (exacly not only mine). You know that in Slupsk is Scania citybus factory? Slupsk will buy (miejski zaklad komunikacji - MZK Slupsk) 8 Omnicity this year. Are you sure Scania Vimma is from Jonkoping? I remember, that one of their has got sign on driver door: "Helsinki Lento - MZK Słupsk".
