Det finns ett engelskt uttryck som lyder "don't get high on your own supply", och det verkar Norge ha bemästrat. Olja är mer beroendeframkallande än kokain!
Uniper wins $14 billion arbitration ruling against Gazprom
Reuters skrev:German utility Uniper has won a multi-billion euro arbitration against former long-time supplier Gazprom (GAZP.MM), it said on Wednesday, allowing it to tear up dormant gas supply contracts and potentially setting a precedent for similar cases.
The ruling marks a landmark victory for Uniper, which had to be rescued by the German government in 2022 after Gazprom first cut and later suspended supplies, forcing the group to buy replacement volumes at sky-high prices on the spot market.
[...]
Uniper said the ruling by the arbitration tribunal in Stockholm on June 7, part of a process the company launched in late 2022, enabled it to terminate existing gas supply contracts, which legally still exist even though no gas is flowing.
Det europeiska missbruket kan emellertid stävjas efter ett gynnsamt skiljedomsförfarande i Stockholm, speciellt om Gazprom inte betalar skadeståndet:
Uniper Ruling Casts Doubt on Russian Gas Supply to Europe
Bloomberg skrev:Repercussions could be felt in places like Austria, which still imports around 80% of its gas from Gazprom. Austrian energy company OMV AG warned last month that flows from Russia could be disrupted. In a worst case scenario, if Gazprom doesn’t pay the damages and the ruling by the Stockholm-based tribunal is enforced strictly, OMV may be forced to redirect payments to Uniper.
[...]
Ending the supply contracts is a key milestone to prepare Uniper for its return to the stock market. The decision may also lead to other rulings across Europe, with Italy’s Eni SpA engaged in similar arbitration proceedings. It’s unclear, however, whether Gazprom will pay the damages.
“This shows once again how uncertain the energy supply from Russia is,” Austria’s Climate and Energy Minister Leonore Gewessler said via her spokesperson. A representative for OMV declined to comment.

Det var väl bara en tidsfråga. Ryssland behöver ju Azerbajdzjan för sin landbrygga till Iran...
Armenia's Pashinyan says he won't visit Belarus as long as Lukashenko is in power, reports RIA
Reuters skrev:Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that no Armenian officials would visit Belarus while its leader Alexander Lukashenko is still in power, Russia's RIA state news agency reported on Thursday.
Pashinyan said on Wednesday that Yerevan would leave a Russia-led security bloc after accusing its members, which include Belarus, of having planned a war against his country with Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan said he would consider changing his stance on leaving the bloc, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, if Belarus apologised to Armenia or withdrew from the grouping.

US-EU spat derails push for $50B Ukraine loan using Russian assets
POLITICO skrev:“What Washington is proposing is, 'We [the U.S.] take a loan, Europe takes all the risk, you [Europe] pay the interest, and we [the U.S.] use the money for a U.S.-Ukraine fund,'” said one senior European diplomat. “We might be stupid but we’re not that stupid.”
[...]
There is palpable anger within European governments about the U.S. plan, which, they argue, would mean they would be on the hook to pay the loan back if anything goes wrong ― while American companies could potentially benefit the most from the Ukraine reconstruction contracts that would flow from it.
[...]
“The EU can be naïve, but this goes too far,” said an EU diplomat. “This would benefit mostly American companies, so we have to discuss the conditions more in detail.”
Även Biden drar sig inte för att utnyttja Europas beroende av amerikansk teknologi. Det europeiska hycklandet om klustervapen gör förstås saken ännu värre.
Russia Keeps Decoupling Its Internet from the World, and YouTube Might Be Its Next Victim
Riddle skrev:From a technical standpoint, one reason YouTube has not been blocked could be the potential disruption to other Google services, mainly Android updates. Many Russians depend on Android: update disruptions could lead to massive vulnerabilities in phones throughout Russia. YouTube’s widespread use and data-heavy content make it a difficult target for Russian authorities and could lead to other collateral damage. Furthermore, a block could result in increased use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) by the public to bypass it, putting strain on network infrastructure and complicating internet monitoring by security services due to encrypted protocols.
Ryssland vill naturligtvis göra sig oberoende av amerikansk teknologi, men landet saknar Kinas muskler!
