President Zelenskyi takar klarspråk: Ukraine to Lose War if US Congress Withholds Aid: Zelensky
Budanov hävdade precis motsatsen i ovanstående intervju. Båda säger förstås vad de måste säga. Experter tycks dock vara böjda att hålla med den tidigare:
Inside Donald Trump’s secret, long-shot plan to end the war in Ukraine
Washington Post skrev:Trump’s proposal consists of pushing Ukraine to cede Crimea and the Donbas border region to Russia, according to people who discussed it with Trump or his advisers and spoke on the condition of anonymity because those conversations were confidential. That approach, which has not been previously reported, would dramatically reverse President Biden’s policy, which has emphasized curtailing Russian aggression and providing military aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine and European allies would probably resist Trump’s efforts to strike a deal with Moscow, Hill said. She added that the United States has limited leverage for a unilateral deal because meaningful sanctions relief would rely on European cooperation.
“No amount of leverage the United States has is likely to compel Ukrainian leadership to engage in policies that would constitute domestic political suicide,” said Michael Kofman, an analyst of the Russia-Ukraine war at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a nonpartisan research center. “And no amount of leverage the United States has can compel Ukraine to cede territory or engage in these types of concessions. This is a situation where if you’re willing to give a hand, the other side will very quickly want the rest of the arm.”
Skribenten minns väl att Trump inte kunde kuva Nordkorea i sina förhandlingar med Kim. Som synes klarar sig Ukraina utan USA, men Trump behöver Europa:
No, Wind Farms Aren’t ‘Driving Whales Crazy’
The New York Times skrev:Mr. Trump — who has called climate change a “hoax,” “nonexistent” and “created by the Chinese” — rolled back more than 100 climate and environmental protections during his administration, while promoting the development of fossil fuels. He has claimed, falsely, that windmills cause cancer, that energy efficient buildings have no windows and that solar rooftops leave older people without air-conditioning in the summer.

“I will end Joe Biden’s war on American energy, cancel his ban on exporting American natural gas, beautiful, clean natural gas.”

“We are a nation whose leaders are demanding all electric cars, despite the fact that they don’t go far. They cost too much, and whose batteries are produced in China with materials only available in China when an unlimited amount of gasoline is available inexpensively in the United States, but not available in China.”
Vem annars ska köpa Trumps fossila bränslen? Tyskland
importerar gärna för sina behov! Men som bekant föredrar både Kina och Indien
det inhemska kolet:
Swift Centre skrev:As data scientist Hannah Ritchie explains, it is possible for countries like China to build more coal plants while simultaneously reducing its coal consumption. As low-carbon energy sources continue to grow, coal power in China is likely to take on the role of ‘peaker plants’, providing flexible generation when needed rather than serving as the baseload of the energy system. This can be seen in the capacity factor (the percentage of time a plant is running at maximum power) of China's coal plants dropping over the last 15 years, from around 70% in the early 2000s to about 50% currently. Therefore, China's coal use could fall despite adding more capacity.
While possible, China are building coal plants at a far higher rate than they would need to if this were the plan. China revived previously cancelled and shelved projects and approved brand-new ones, according to Global Energy Monitor’s Global Coal Plant Tracker. In 2023, they added almost 50,000 MW and retired less than 4,000 MW of productive capacity.

Overall, the situation is even clearer in the case of India, as it both its economy and population are growing more quickly, and because it is not yet wealthy enough to afford to decarbonise. India has also been phasing natural gas out in recent years — despite it being less polluting — while continuing to rely on coal. (India has much less natural gas in its proved reserves than Russia, China, and the US have.)
